    The thrust on academic excellence in the classroom has been accompanied by an effort to build up the Vidyalayas as co-educational residential institutions. The House System of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, functions as an effective instrument for the development of the personality of the students. It furthers team spirit, by involving students in a variety of co-curricular and extra curricular activities. The inter house competitions, organizational responsibilities, games, sports & art in education activities help students to groom themselves into competent & self-confident individuals. The value of dignity of labour & concern for environment is sought to be incorporated by self help activities that are part & parcel of the daily schedule of all Vidyalayas. Teachers who stay in residence provide teaching help after class hours through remedial teaching sessions held in the afternoons. Teachers as House Masters or House Mistress maintain a close association with students and provide the necessary support to children.

Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti through its eight Regional Offices ensures all round development of the personality of the children by providing good academic guidance apart from input in other non-scholastic areas by providing good facilities for Sports, NCC, Scouts & Guides, Adventure activities and Computer education etc.
